Templates are structured pages which contain content fields that can be completed in one, or over time, and help to capture events and experiences consistently.
What is a template?
A template is a page containing fields you are able to complete by typing information, ticking options or attaching assets.
- Resource - is a blank version from which a copy is made.
- Asset - is the completed version saved in the Asset Store.
The selection of resource templates available are based on your course enrolment.

Open a template
When working with a template for the first time, you must take a copy of the resource and save it to your Asset Store.
To open:
- From the burger menu choose > Resource Store.
- Find the resource from the list - using the search or filters to refine.
- Click the template title to open.
- Type a title into the Save as... field and click Save.
- A copy of the template is saved as an asset in your Asset Store.
- To close, use the navigation bar to return to the dashboard.
To continue working on the same template you previously started, open the asset from your Asset Store:
To reopen:
- From the burger menu choose > Asset Store
- Find the asset from the list and click its title to open.
Reuse a template
As templates help capture an event or experience in a structured way, it is useful to use them to record multiple events or experiences consistently. For example: the meeting template can be used to record all meetings held.
To use:
- From the Resource Store, open the Meeting template.
- Type Meeting - week 1 into the Save record as ... field.
- Save the page and use the navigation bar to return to the dashboard.
- The asset is saved in the Asset Store.
To use, again:
- From the Resource Store, open the Meeting template, again.
- Type Meeting - week 2 into the Save record as ... field.
- Save the page and use the navigation bar to return to the dashboard.
- The asset is saved in the Asset Store.
Unless indicated, a resource can be used an unlimited number of times to make new assets.
If the resource is labelled as Single Use in the Resource Store, only a single copy of the resource can be taken. Using the same resource additional times will redirect you to the first asset in your Asset Store.
You can Favourite a resource for templates frequently used.
Complete a template
A template may contain three different content block types.
Instructional hints
This is content - text, images, video, audio - used to explain subjects and ideas. You can read, watch and listen, but you cannot make changes to hints.
Learner fields
These are the fields you can complete as a learner. Typically, they require you to type into text areas, or select options from menus and lists. Sometimes you are also asked to add evidence or self assess with a capability.
Only you, logged in with your account, can contribute to these fields in a template - unless you also share the asset with people for collaboration.
Assessor Fields
These fields are used by the people assessing your work. To do so, your asset must be shared with ATLAS. Typically, an assessor field is used to validate work you do, or provide inline feedback.
As a Learner you can see these fields, but you cannot complete them. Only assessors can contribute to assessor fields and you will see their response when it has been added from ATLAS.
