A capability is a block within a template to record your skills, knowledge or behaviours. You can show progression, add evidence, and receive assessor approval.
What is a capability?
A capability is used in a template to let you self-rate your skills, knowledge and behaviours and attach evidence to confirm your claims. The blocks look the same as other content blocks but have additional features.
There are four types of blocks:
Show progression
When learning, you often start out with a low capability, which develops over time. This progression can be captured, in this example, using a numeric capability block as the example.
To capture:
- For a first self-assessment, rate your skill or knowledge with a score and explain why.
- Over time, return to change your rating, and again explain why.
- A history of entries is captured on a timeline in the sidebar. To view, click the History icon.
Attach evidence
To support your self-rating, you can attach evidence to provide background or context. In PebblePad, this can be done in two ways:
1. Map evidence
One asset may evidence multiple skills, and can therefore be used for multiple capabilities - in the same framework, or different frameworks. Mapping an asset is a way to do this in one action.
2. Add evidence
One capability may need multiple assets to be added to collectively provide sufficient evidence. Adding evidence is a way to do this in one action.
Add comments
Informal conversation with coaches or assessors can help guide your progression and development.
To comment:
- Click the +Add button of the capability and choose Add comment.
- Type your comment in the sidebar text area and click Save.
- A chat icon will appear next to the +Add button.
To start a new chat thread, repeat the above steps.
To reply:
