To map is when you attach an asset to one or many capability blocks to use as evidence for your work. A justification can be added to explain its inclusion.
What is mapping?
A capability block is used to record your skills, knowledge or behaviours, and where multiple blocks are used, this is known as a capability framework.
To confirm your abilities, evidence is typically requested to be added. In PebblePad, there are two ways to do this:
1. Map evidence
One asset may evidence multiple skills, and can therefore be used for multiple capabilities - in the same framework, or different frameworks. Mapping is a way to do this in one action.
2. Add evidence
One capability may need multiple assets to be added to collectively provide sufficient evidence. Adding evidence is a way to do this in one action.
Map an asset
The template or workbook must contain a capability block and have mapping enabled.
To map:
- From the Asset Store, tick the asset to map.
- Click I want to … and choose Map.
- The mapping sidebar will display all available mappable templates and workbooks.
- Expand and tick which outcomes to attach the asset and click Next.
- Write a justification (optional) of how this evidence meets this outcome.
- Click Save to confirm.
It is not possible to map to a template or workbook which itself has mapping enabled.
View a mapping
When an asset has been mapped to one or more capability blocks, you can see all the locations from the mapping tab of the information sidebar.
To view:
- From the Asset Store, click the i of the asset.
- Choose the Mapping tab.
- All mappings are shown, along with the (optional) justification.
Change a mapping
It is possible to map an asset to more capabilities, or remove current mappings form existing capabilities.
To add:
- Repeat the original mapping steps.
- Tick the new outcomes to include and click Next.
- Write a justification (optional) and click Save.
To remove:
- View the current mappings.
- Click Edit to open mapping editor.
- Untick unwanted outcomes and click Save.
