An assignment requires an asset to be shared to ATLAS for assessment. It sets the dates, method and timing of when to submit, and how the asset is updated.
Dates and deadlines
An assignment sets the dates of when an asset can be shared with ATLAS.
- From - date from when an asset can be submitted.
- Until - the deadline date when an asset must be submitted (to be on time).
- As late - asset can be submitted after deadline, but marked as late.
The Activity dashboard helps you keep track of:
- Things you need to do - including assignment deadlines and extensions.
- Things you need to know - including assignment submissions accepted to ATLAS.
When to submit
Your assignment is prepared by compiling and completing assets in your Asset Store. When to submit is dependent on the type of work you are doing and when your assessor need access.
At the start
You submit when you start work and continuously update the asset until the deadline date.
This is typical when completing a workbook or portfolio over a long period of time.
At the end
You submit when you have finished the work ahead of the assignment deadline date.
This is typical when completing templates, including those with digital signatures.
How to submit
The assignment settings control how your asset is shared with ATLAS.
Auto Submit
Certain workbooks or templates display an auto-submit label. The means that the first time you open this resource, it is automatically shared to ATLAS.
This is typical when your assessor requires ongoing access to your work at the start.
Manually submit
You select the asset and follow the process to share to ATLAS at a time of your choosing.
This is typical when your assessor only requires access to completed work at the end.
What is submitted
When an asset is shared with ATLAS, a duplicate version is submitted and the original asset remains in your Asset Store.
The assignment's settings control how you continue to work on the asset after it has been submitted.
Copy on submission
The asset is copied at the time it is shared to ATLAS. You can continue to open the asset from the Asset Store and update, but changes are not synchronised with the assessor view in ATLAS.
To update a submission (assessor view), the asset should be removed from ATLAS (if permitted) and reshared with ATLAS.
Lock on submission
The asset is copied at the time it is shared to ATLAS. The asset in your Asset Store is locked and you cannot make any further changes.
Modify until deadline
The asset is copied at the time it is shared to ATLAS. You can continue to open the asset from the Asset Store. Any changes will synchronise with the assessor view in ATLAS until the deadline date.
Each time an asset is saved, the submission (assessor view) is updated in ATLAS.
View a submission
You can open the assessor view to see the version of the asset shared with ATLAS.
To view:
- From the Asset Store, open the asset.
- Click Go to assessor view in the banner.
- Click the Go to assessor view button in the sidebar.
- The assessor view of the asset will open in a new tab.
Request an extension
When an assignment deadline is passed, you can continue to make changes to the asset in your Asset Store, but updates will not synchronise with ATLAS. To realign the two versions, an assignment extension is required.
If approved:
- A notification will be added to the Activity timeline.
- The current Asset Store version will resync and update the assessor view in ATLAS
- The asset will continue to sync further changes until the extension deadline date.
- When the deadline is passed, changes made in the Asset Store will not sync to the ATLAS assessor view.
Contact a course assessor to request an assignment extension.
