Table blocks

Four table options provide a way for a user to capture a response in a tabular form. Adjust the properties to control how they are used, including content type.





Tables cannot have role restriction applied to be used as an assessor field. Nor can tables be used as hints.




Column label table


A table with column headers only are written by the resource owner during the build, and the table cells completed by the learner.






Custom block properties

Table dimensions

Adjust the number of columns (maximum 10) and rows (maximum 100) included in the table.



Repeating rows

Create an expanding table to fit the number of rows required by the learner. The table starts with one row, with a new row added beneath each time a response is given.


Shared block properties

The following shared block properties can be adjusted:


  • Hints on asset view
  • Show empty fields in view
  • Include evidence
  • Privacy state
  • Mandatory for progress
  • Duplicate block






Row label table


A table with row headers only are written by the resource owner during the build, and the table cells completed by the learner.

Cell table


A table of individual cells have the headers written by the resource owner during the build, and the table cells completed by the learner.






Custom properties

Number of cells

Adjust the overall number of cells included in the table (maximum 100).



Number of cells per row

Adjust the number of cells included in each row on the page (maximum 4).

Shared block properties

The following shared block properties can be adjusted:


  • Hints on asset view
  • Show empty fields in view
  • Include evidence
  • Privacy state
  • Mandatory for progress
  • Duplicate block







Cell types


Each column or row can be adjusted to capture a specific type of response from the learner:


  • Text (default)
  • Date - chosen from date picker
  • Number - manually typed
  • Time - in (24) hours and (59) minute



To set:

  1. Click the column / row settings cog.
  2. Choose the content type from the list.







Cell options


Where a cell type is set to number or time, additional options can be enabled.



Auto Sum

This will calculate the total value for the entire row or column and display in a new cell added to the end.



Contributes to hours & points

Where auto sum is enabled, the value of this cell can be synchronised to the page's hours or points automatically. 


  • Number will contribute to points
  • Time will contribute to hours and minutes
